Writing was my first love. I found comfort and refuge in words as they flowed from my pen onto the many pages of a personal volume of journals. Text binds us all together using the simplest form of vehicles: language. Letters will form words, form sentences, form entire lexicons of any given individual. Language is an immediate form of communication. It is the simplest way to find instant gratification in the search for meaning. My work explores the use of text and language as a way to communicate personal narratives about sexuality, gender, identity, and memory. Phrases, performances, films and videos are showcased to create a visual narrative that is drawn from personal life experiences. The audience has the creative control to determine the message, as if it is a riddle or a rumor on the lips of strangers. It is a secret whispered between unknowns.
